Calamus is an herb that grows in some parts of Europe, Asia and North America. Mentioned in the book of Exodus in the Hebrew Bible, it is one of the ingredients in the ritual incense ketoret. The visionary effect of this root was recognized by the Native Americans and noted in the Bible. The Ancient Chinese believed that Calamus put one’s energy (chi/qi) into balance. 

Use calamus root in sachets for luck, money, and protection. A tea of this root is said to increase psychic abilities and induce visions. Sprinkle this root in each corner of the kitchen to protect the house from poverty and hunger.
