Ares is the Greek god of war, violence, and bloodshed, representing the brutal, chaotic, and physical aspects of battle, in contrast to Athena's strategic war; he's the son of Zeus and Hera, often disliked by other gods for his savagery, but worshipped in places like Sparta, and is famously associated with his lover Aphrodite, his children Deimos (Terror) and Phobos (Fear), and his Roman counterpart, Mars.
