Blue violet is native to most of central and eastern North America. It is a common sight in lawns, gardens, sidewalk cracks, and along trail sides. Anglo-Saxons believed that violets warded off evil spirits and that dreaming of the flower brought good luck. Romans placed wreaths of violets around their heads to help headaches.

Use blue violet leaves in sachets for protection, luck, love, wishes, and healing. Powder and burn as an incense for protection, luck, wishes, peace, and healing. One may place violet leaves in one’s shoes for seven days to attract love. Brew a tea with violet leaves and lavender flowers to bring new love or lust into one’s life.
