Angelica has many different varieties around the world and is a staple of American folk magic or rootwork. The modern holy reputation of this herb dates back to medieval Europe, often being used to ward off disease due to its association with the Archangel Michael.

Growing angelica in one’s garden is said to protect the property from negative spirits and energies. Use this root in sachets to promote healing, strength, and harmony. In incense angelica root is used for protection and exorcism. Sprinkle this root in the four corners of the house or around the perimeter of the house to ward off evil. Angelica can be used in incenses or offerings for Archangel Michael and to consecrate amulets of him.
