Thoth is the Egyptian god of knowledge, the moon, math, science, magic, messenger of the gods, and patron of scribes. According to myth he is either born from the lips of Ra at the beginning or he created himself and lays the cosmic egg of creation. Thoth is said to have invented writing, the calendar, and is the god responsible for controlling space and time. He is depicted as an Ibis or as a man with the head of an ibis often carrying instruments of writing or an ankh and axe.
